Terry was born and educated in Bournemouth. He is married to his wife Wendy and has a son called Toby.

After serving 3 years in the Royal Air Force he joined Post Office Telephones and stayed for 25 years. He took early retirement in 1995.

Also he has been keeping himself busy by serving as a Magistrate, for East Dorset in both the Magistrates Court and Crown Court for 21 years. Plus has published numerous books on aviation related subjects.

He joined Hospital Radio Bedside in 2009 and now co-presents the request show and jazz programme with John Savage on Friday Evenings.

For the past 9 years he has been a marshal on Poole quay’s bike night every Tuesday in the summer.
