Hospital Radio Bedside are always looking for volunteers to work as hospital visitors. It is almost totally separate from normal membership and is often attractive to those who are more interested in caring for patients than the radio side of our charity.

The role of hospital visitor involves meeting patients, chatting with them and also publicising our service.

Our band of hospital visitors are, in general, retired people with time on their hands; people who enjoy making someone's stay in hospital easier by keeping them company. You certainly do not have to be retired, though, as visiting hours extend into the evenings as well.

Although it is by no means an easy job, you are always looking out for requests and this gives you an introduction to the patient. Any requests you gather are then sent back to our studios - by phone, fax or email - to be played at the right time.
